Watch: Lee Junho, Kim Min Ha, And More Impress At Script Reading For New Drama 'Typhoon Family'

tvN’s upcoming drama “Typhoon Family” has unveiled a glimpse of its first script reading session!

“Typhoon Family” follows the journey of CEO Kang Tae Poong (Lee Junho) struggling to protect Typhoon Company, the small business left by his father, as he navigates the trials of the IMF crisis in 1997.

The script reading was attended by director Na Jung, writer Jang Hyun, and cast members Lee Junho, Kim Min Ha, Kim Min Seok, Kwon Han Sol, Lee Chang Hoon, Kim Jae Hwa, Kim Song Il, Lee Sang Jin, Kim Ji Young, Kim Sang Ho, Moo Jin Sung, Kim Young Ok, Park Sung Yeon, Kwon Eun Seong, and Sung Dong Il.

Lee Junho, who plays Kang Tae Poong—a free-spirited young man who becomes a corporate professional during the IMF crisis—commanded the room with his confident gaze and strong delivery. He expressed shifting emotions with care, sometimes showing Tae Poong’s boldness and at other times his seriousness.

Kim Min Ha plays Oh Mi Seon, the eldest daughter who supports her family while pursuing her dream of becoming a corporate professional. At the script reading, she portrayed delicate emotions with precision, and her reproduction of Seoul’s dialect from that era added a vivid sense of realism as if she were truly living in 1997.

Kim Min Seok plays Wang Nam Mo, Tae Poong’s close friend and a member of the “Apgujeong Street Boys,” a group of free-spirited youth of the ’90s who ruled Apgujeong. With his signature energy and playful charisma, he captivated the room and hinted at a performance that could extend his presence from Apgujeong to the small screen.

The office team of Typhoon Company also stood out. Lee Chang Hoon as Ko Ma Jin, a sales manager; Kim Jae Hwa as Cha Seon Taek, a deputy general manager in administration; Kim Song Il as Koo Myeong Gwan, a director in management; and Lee Sang Jin as Bae Song Jung, an assistant manager in logistics, filled the room with their distinctive characters.

Sung Dong Il, who will make a special appearance as Tae Poong’s father Kang Jin Young, portrayed a man who rose from humble beginnings, showing both a father’s gruff love for his son and the weight of an era’s glory and decline.

Kim Ji Young, as Tae Poong’s mother Jung Jung Mi, conveyed warmth and realism as a once-glamorous Gangnam housewife who suddenly loses everything but endures with resilience to protect her son. Together, the two actors brought to life the joys and sorrows of the parents’ generation.

Actors who play Mi Seon’s and Nam Mo’s families also added energy to the story. Kwon Han Sol portrays Mi Seon’s younger sister Oh Mi Ho, portraying the dual nature of an it girl of the ’90s—tough on the outside yet tender within. Kim Young Ok plays the grandmother Yeom Boon Yi, Kwon Eun Seong portrays the youngest sibling Oh Beom, and Park Sung Yeon is Nam Mo’s mother Eul Nyeo.

The arrival of Typhoon Company’s rival father-and-son duo CEO Pyo Bak Ho (Kim Sang Ho) and his son Pyo Hyun Joon (Moo Jin Sung) adds further tension.
