[Scene Recap] “Miss Ripley”: Happily Ever After Ending?

***SPOILER ALERT***

MBC’s “Miss Ripley” finally came to an end on July 19th. On the last episode, Jang Mi Ri (Lee Da Hae) was sent to jail for forging her academic background.

One year later, she was finally released from prison. The original plan was to go overseas with her mother Lee Hwa (Choi Myung Gil) and live there together. However, she decided to stay. She forgave her mother for abandoning her at a young age by sending a letter stating “Although it will be difficult, I will live here and atone for my shameful past. You really did return back like you promised before as you gave me this necklace to keep while waiting for you. I love you.”

Jang Mi Ri stayed in Korea and started off fresh with a bright spirit. Song Yoo Hyun (Park Yoo Chun) jumped into child welfare business in reminiscence of Jang Mi Ri. He stated the following in a soliloquy: “I met her one day. I could recognize her at first glance. The woman resembled my long departed mother. A woman who taught me the joy in the world. She was like my heart. I loved her. I really loved her.”

Lee Hwa volunteered cheerfully with her husband Song In Soo (Jang Young). Jang Myung Hoon (Kim Seung Woo) opened a small hospital where he provided medical care for senior citizens. Moon Hee Joo (Kang Hae Jung) became a successful architect.

Jang Mi Ri and Song Yoo Hyun never ended up seeing each other again. On the street, they both saw a sign that read “The greatest love is to love yourself.” Song Yoo Hyun reminisced Jang Mi Ri while Jang Mi Ri thought about Song Yoo Hyun. Unfortunately the two passed by each other without meeting. Yet, it was a happy ending after all.

Meanwhile, “Miss Ripley” ended while maintain its first-place position by recording a viewer ratings of 15.4%. “Spy Myeong Wol” recorded 5.9%, while “Warrior Baek Dong Soo” also recorded a new high with a solid 15.0%.
