Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2012 - November Week 2
K.Will’s “Please Don’t…” holds on to the top spot for the third straight week by the slightest margin over Ailee’s “I Will Show You.”. The final score is 935 to 934. “Please Don’t…” continues to impress on our chart every week. Despite strong competition from other new songs, it refuses to give up the top spot. It has been consistently scoring high on our chart sources.
Ailee almost picked up her first No. 1 song this week. “I Will Show You” in fact is stronger on independent charts but is still behind on TV Network rankings. Next week it may finally catch up to “Please Don’t…” but will have to face new competitions. As a consolation, Ailee is now a strong favorite to win the Best New Artist award with this song and her debut single “Heaven” both hitting the top three on our chart.
Switching spots with “I Will Show You” is miss A’s “I Don’t Need A Man,” down one spot to No. 3. Despite not getting the top spot this time around, it is another strong chart showing for the rising female quartet.
There are three new songs this week, all at the bottom of the top ten. Debuting at No. 8 and making a late run for top new artist is Lee Ha Yi’s first solo single “1,2,3,4.” As the runner up on the K-Pop Star competition earlier this year, she was signed by YG Entertainment. Fans got a sneak preview of Lee Ha Yi on Epik High’s song “Cold” just a few weeks ago. “1,2,3,4” is a retro soul track showing the young singer’s powerful yet mature voice. “1,2,3,4” was the new No. 1 song on M!Countdown this week, making her the only rookie artist this year to top a music chart. She has a good chance here next week as “1,2,3,4” has already topped many internet charts.
Returning to the top 10 for the first time in many years is Byul. Her song “So Cute” featuring 10cm’s Kwon Jung Yeol moves up 14 spots to No. 9 this week. Byul is set to marry comedian and fellow singer Haha later this month. She will also release a new mini album this month to commemorate her tenth year in the music industry. “So Cute” is the preview single. This folk style duet ballad holds lyrics about a couple gazing into each other’s eyes.
Making a big 30-spot jump to No. 10 is the latest hit by Girl’s Day “Don’t Forget Me.” Now a four-member group, Girl’s Day comes back with their fifth single. “Don’t Forget Me” is a pop number about a girl who finds one’s old diary to discover entries on love and heartbreak.
