Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – November Week 5
For the third straight week, a song from outside of the top 10 the previous week captures the No. 1 spot. This week the honor belongs to Davichi, as their latest hit “Letter” jumps all the way from No. 21 to the top. It is the second chart topping hit for Davichi this year. The duo also hit No. 1 with “Be Warmed” back in April. Congratulations.
“Letter” is from Davichi’s digital single “Davichi Code.” Written by hitmaker Jun Hae Sung, “Letter” has an acoustic guitar arrangement. Davichi expresses the poetic lyrics with their perfect harmony. This song won on MBC Music Core last week and consistently ranked among the top songs across all charts. As a result, it beats last week’s No. 1, miss A’s “Hush” for the top spot this week.
Rounding out the top three is another new song in the top 10. Moving up 10 spots to No. 3 is Huh Gak’s “Memory Of Your Scent,” the title song from his digital single album “Reminisce.” It is a sad acoustic ballad about a man’s feeling after separating from his girlfriend. This is already Huh Gak’s fourth top 10 hit in 2013. His best place was No. 2 with “1440.” Let see if “Memory Of Your Scent” will become his first ever No. 1 song on our chart.
We have three other new songs in the top 10 this week. Ballad group Noel moves up 17 spots to No. 6 with “Street of the Night.” This is a pre-released single off their upcoming mini-album “Trace.” This time Noel teams up with Dynamic Duo, adding a hip-hop element that is not usually present in their songs.
Two Big Bang members have songs in the top 10 this week. Taeyang’s “Ringa Linga” is at No. 5, and T.O.P joins him with “Doom Dada” at No. 7, moving up from No. 26 last week. Co-composed by Choice37 and T.O.P himself, this song showcases the singer’s rhythmical rap and an addictive hook. The creative music video is also worth watching. Along with G-Dragon’s “Crooked,” “Black,” and “Who You,” and also Seungri’s “Gotta Talk To U,” Big Bang members are enjoying a lot of success this year with their solo projects.
Moving up 19 spots to No. 9 this week is veteran singer Lee Juck’s “Lie Lie Lie.” It is the title song from his fifth album, his first release in three years. Written by the singer himself, “Lie Lie Lie” is a piano piece with a simple melody with lyrics about being dumped by his lover and that empty feeling. It is a heartbreaking love song. “Lie Lie Lie’ just won on this week’s KBS Music Bank. Let see if it will contend for our top spot next week.
