K-Celeb Double Dates That Need to Happen

From A-List actors to popular idols, Korean celebrities have been either announcing their relationships or being photographed on not-so-discreet dates on an almost monthly basis. It’s happening so often, that it’s not as interesting. Korean celebrity dating isn’t cool, you know what’s cool?

That’s right. This needs to be the future of Korean celebrity scandals. In the Western celebrity world, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Beyonce, and Jay-Z are having double dates at fashion show and court-side seats at NBA games (with the paparazzi as their fifth wheel). Where are my Korean celebrity double dates? I want to see Dispatch release blurry, zoomed-in photos of four idols having a double date in one of their Mercede Benz. Is that too much to ask? 

So here are some of Noona’s double date scenarios that need to happen in the real life. Check them out and then tell me if there are any double dates you want to see in the comments below. 

CallMeN00NA is a Soompi Editor who thinks too much about celebrity dating to notice that her own dating life is deteriorating into celibacy. 

The newest celebrity couple that’s causing quite the stir if Girl’s Generation‘s Taeyeon and EXO‘s Baekhyun. For various reasons the announcement of this couple was met with mixed responses (to put it mildly). Taeyeon is not the first (or even one of the first) Girls’ Generation members to come out with a public relationship with another idol; fellow member Tiffany went public with 2PM’s Nichkhun in April of this year.

The double date: Brunch at a french cafe. Tiffany and Taeyeon sit side by side, giggling while picking at their waffles topped with cream and fruit. Meanwhile, Nichkhun and Baekhyun banter politely over the proper use of man-liner and which country will win the world cup.

There are other Girls’ Generation members who are dating. After denying it several times, Sooyoung and actor Jung Kyung Ho finally admitted to being in a relationship. YoonA‘s relationship with Lee Seung Gi was a bit more of a surprise.

The double date: After attending the same Sunday church service, the two couples sit side by side at a showing of “Streetcar Named Desire” at a small community theater. After, all four with engage in a polite, but attentive, discussion about method acting and its limitations. 

This might be too much for some minds to handle. Four of the top Korean actors having a double date? Dare we imagine? Jo In Sung and Kim Min Hee confirmed to be dating in April of last year, and Won Bin and Lee Na Young also confirmed their relationship a few months after. Perhaps this double date is not a good idea. Could it be dangerous to have such good looking people in one place at the same time?

The double date: In order not to blind pedestrians with their dazzling beauty, these two top actor couples meet late at night a very classy and exclusive bar. The actors drink cognac and evaluate their cigars, while the actresses wrap their shawls around their thin shoulders and discuss which European country is better to hide in. Also, everyone smells really good but no one talks about that. 

How about soccer player couples? Actress Han Hye Jin married soccer player (and younger man) Ki Sung Yueng last year. Korea’s most famous soccer play Park Ji Sung is going to get married to announcer Kim Min Ji this July.

The double date: On a breezy Saturday afternoon the two couples meet for a picnic by the Han River. While enjoying their hand-made kimbap and barley tea, Park Ji Sung and Ki Sung Yueng can’t help themselves but jump up and join a group of elementary school children in their energetic game of soccer. Han Hye Jin and Kim Min Ji roll their eyes but cheer on enthusiastically for the makeshift teams. 

Brown Eyed Girls have two members who are in a public relationship. Ga In announced that she had been in a relationship with actor Joo Ji Hoon (who partook in her steamy music video), and JeA also went public with her relationship with YG Entertainment producer, Choi Pil Kang (also known asPK).

The double date: They meet for a midnight showing of Lars von Trier’s latest movie, and have the maturity and nonchalance to maintain eye contact with each other when they have drinks after the show. 

It was only last month when Gong Hyo Jin and Lee Jin Wook were confirmed to be dating. Gong Hyo Jin isn’t the only “Hyo Jin” actress to be dating another actor. Actress Kim Hyo Jin married Yoo Ji Tae back in 2011 and now she is pregnant with his child. Having the same first names is a great reason to have a double date!

The double date: The Hyo Jins excitedly shop for Kim Hyo Jin’s future baby, making sure that baby will be the most fashionable darling in all of Korea. Lee Jin Wook and Yoo Ji Tae follow dutifully while carrying the numerous shopping bags but the atmosphere is light as they half-joke about one day doing a “Hyo Jin” swap. 

Talk about power couples! Kwon Sang Woo and Lee Byung Hun are rightfully two of Korea’s most charismatic leading men, and their wives are two of Korea’s most beautiful women, Son Tae Young and Lee Min Jung. 

The double date: Kwon Sang Woo and Son Tae Young invite the other couple over to their secret chateau for horseback riding and fencing. In the evening they have wine and steak next to a blazing fireplace while they passionately discuss the future of Korean cinema. 

I picked these two couples because in my opinion Son Ye Jin and Han Ye Seul are simply gorgeous, and for no other reason, I swear. Son Ye Jin starting dating Kim Nam Gil after starring together in the drama “Shark” and they care currently filming the move “Pirates” together. Han Ye Seul and YG Entertainment’s hit maker Teddy have been dating since 2013. 

The double date: All four celebrities fly first class to Los Angeles where Teddy and Han Ye Seul act as the best guides. All four gorgeous people eat tacos, go shopping at Rodeo Drive, and then zip along the curvy roads of the Pacific Highway with the top down in a sleek red convertible.
