K-dramas and fashion trends — two things that are intricately linked together. It’s one of the major product placements (PPL) of the industry. Who hasn’t watched a show and thought, “I wish I had ‘so-and-so’s’ wardrobe”? But alas, most of us might fit the poor, bumbling character type, but do not possess that magical wallet that would allow us to buy such extravagant outfits while living in our ‘dinky’ rooftop apartments.

We can at least appreciate and drool over these K-drama characters and their phenomenal fashion. Let’s take a look:

Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun), the lead character of “Cheese in the Trap,” possessed a fashion sense that I wish I had when I was in college…and honestly, right now. Her hipster outfits were on point, mixing trends with comfort to create stylish combinations.

Coats galore! “Goblin” showcased male winter fashion at its best. I’m pretty sure the turtleneck and coat combo was created by Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) during his 939 years of existence. He owns everything he wears (literally and figuratively) and looks like a model walking down a runway.

A summer drama with a breezy wardrobe to boot. Hae Soo’s (Gong Hyo Jin’s) Bohemian chic style completely captured that fun, urban feel. Her colorful blouses and high-waisted pants created a masculine-meets-feminine style that is now iconic.

When I grow up, I want to dress like Hae Sung (Lee Bo Young). Her professional attire was to die for. So elegant and sophisticated.

A conman, Heo Joon Jae (Lee Min Ho) has the ability to adapt and take on any character required of him. This chameleon also has the talent of wearing anything and making it look nice. Not many people can pull off a pink overcoat.

Bringing the 90s back! Arguably, the most fashionable decade. Song Ma Rin (Shin Min Ah) rocks the denim jackets and mom jeans, looking edgy and casual while bringing back waves of nostalgia.

Kang Cheol (Lee Jong Suk) had some real cool outfits, befitting of his cool, intelligent character. Although being the main character from a webtoon with an alcoholic, weak, and sadistic author isn’t great, but I mean, having any outfit at the touch of a pen makes up for it….right?

If you were a man (or a woman cross-dressing as a man) time traveling back to the Joseon Dynasty (A total possibility! Dramas told me so!), Prince Yeong’s (Park Bo Gum’s) gorgeous hanboks would be what you want and should be wearing. The vibrant colors and quality fabrics are truly a piece of art.
