"Sector 7" Opens in Select Cities in US and Canada

“Secret Garden” fans in North America who miss Ha Ji Won will have a chance to catch her on the big screen this month. Her sci-fi-action movie “Sector 7” releases in 11 cities in the US and Canada on September 16. The film was already opened on CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles on September 9. It will also be screened in Honolulu on October 14.

The celebrity lookalike contestants were not the only ones who received attention during the SBS Chuseok special, “Hallyu Olympics” that aired on September 13. During this special, 22 groups from six different countries competed in four categories, providing many enjoyable performances for viewers to see. The first contestant for the dance portion of the contest was “Taiwanese Super Junior.” They surprised everyone with with their powerful dances and extremely difficult acrobatics to “Sorry, Sorry” and “Mr. Simple.”

On September 13, SBS aired “Hallyu Olympics,” the first Hallyu Cover Contest, where contestants came out and imitated their favorite artists’ songs and dances, as well as actors’ famous scenes. On this day, 22 teams from six different countries (Korea, United States, Canada, Japan, Taiwan, and South Africa) competed against each other.

K-Pop Stars to Visit Peru for Volunteer Work

In celebration of their 50th anniversary, MBC will be running a special program titled, "KOICA’s Dream: Peru," with six celebrity teams participating in a volunteer trip to Peru. Participating celebrities include Park Bo Young, MBLAQ’s G.O. and Mir, Park Jung Ah, Goo Jun Yub, and Kim Ho Jin. They will be leaving for Peru on September 14 for two weeks to help rebuild schools and bathrooms with 20 medical staff who will also provide medial treatment and vaccine services. They’ll also teach Korean and spread Korean culture like Taekwondo to local people. The group will return to Korea on Sept. 28.

Park Bo Young to Romance "Wolf Boy" Song Joong Ki

Song Joong Ki will transform his image (literally) in the upcoming film, "Wolf Boy." And Park Bo Young has been cast as the girl who falls in love with the Teen Wolf. "Wolf Boy" is the feature film debut from up-and-coming director Jo Sung Hee, who’s been leaving an impression on Chungmuro with his short films over the last few years. "Wolf Boy" will complete casting and enter production in October.

KBS’s "Hello" Is Monday Night’s Number One Variety Show

KBS’ show "Hello" has kicked off MBC’s "Come to Play" from the throne as Monday night’s number one variety show. On September 12, it was reported that "Hello" had a viewer rate of 9.1% (according to AGB Nielsen Media Research), while "Come to Play" followed behind at 7.6%. On the special Chuseok episode of "Hello", Super Junior’s Eun Hyuk, Shin Dong, Dong Hae, and Kyu Hyun appeared on the show. This episode featured regular citizens as well, who discussed topics starting from underwear size to fear of bugs.

Yoon Eun Hye Joins Asian Superstar Chow Yun Fat in Chinese Historical Film

Yoon Eun Hye will have another milestone to celebrate other than her birthday this October. According to a local news agency, the actress is set to star as a tragic heroine alongside Asian superstar Chow Yun Fat, “Nodame Cantabile’s” Tamaki Hiroshi, and Taiwanese pop star and actor Alec Su in the historical film “Tong Que Tai.”
