Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2013 – December Week 1
Third time is a charm for 2NE1! They finally score their first No. 1 song on our chart this year as “Missing You” moves up all the way from No. 19 to claim the top spot from last week’s No. 1, Davichi’s “Letter.” Congratulations.
“Missing You” is composed and penned by Teddy. This R&B ballad has an addictive melody and strong synth sounds. The girls have come before fans in a casual, but sophisticated and sexy manner. 2NE1 released two other digital singles this year. Both “Falling In Love” and “Do You Love Me?” went to No. 2 on our chart. “Missing You” finally gets them over the top.
Moving up six spots to No. 3 is Lee Juck’s “Lie Lie Lie.” This made for winter style ballad was No. 1 on KBS Music Bank last week, and was solid in all our chart sources. Lee Juck scored his first top five hit in three years. Last time he did was in 2010 when “With You” went to No. 5.
There are two other new songs in the top 10 this week. Debuting at No. 5 and continues enjoying the most successful year in his career is rapper San E, as he scores his third top five hits in 2013 with “Break Up Dinner” featuring Phantom’s Sanchez. It is the title song from San E’s second mini-album “Not Based On The True Story.” This is a medium-tempo R&B, hip-hop number about a last meal with a girlfriend before breakup. The mini-album also includes San E’s two previous top five hit this year: “Story Of Someone I Know” and “Where Did You Sleep?”
FT Island scores their second top 10 hit this year as “Madly” moves up 13 spots to No. 10. “Madly” is the title track from the group’s fifth mini-album “The Mood.” It is a rock ballad song showcasing Lee Hong Ki’s powerful vocal. The lyrics are about a man who madly misses the woman he loved.
