Will 2NE1 Be Delaying Their Comeback as Well?

YG officially announced on February 13 that 2NE1 would be making their comeback on February 24 with their second album “CRUSH.”

Their comeback would have coincided with Girls’ Generation‘s “Mr.Mr.” release on the same day. However, Girls’ Generation’s music video release for “Mr.Mr.” and the group’s comeback has since been postponed.

SM Entertainment stated on February 14 that Girls’ Generation’s comeback date may be delayed by up to two weeks, meaning that 2NE1 and Girls’ Generation would not come head-to-head with one another. It’s been a long time since there was a big girl group battle, so the matchup has understandably been attracting much attention inside and outside the music industry.

The issue of whether 2NE1 will release their album on February 24 as scheduled has therefore become a matter of interest. If YG Entertainment chooses not to postpone their new album release, then it’ll be unlikely that Girls’ Generation and 2NE1 will face a head-on collision.

SM Entertainment had initially planned to release Girls’ Generation’s new track and music video for “Mr.Mr.” on February 19, with their comeback performance on Mnet M! Countdown on February 20. The full album was to have been released on February 24.

2NE1 and Girls’ Generation’s comebacks would therefore have overlapped, sparking a so-called “Girls’ Generation vs. 2NE1” showdown.

Girls’ Generation’s comeback being delayed by 2 weeks means that there would be an approximately 10 day difference between the releases, making it difficult for a head-to-head match. All eyes are on YG to see if 2NE1 sticks to the schedule or if YG chooses to postpone their comeback.

Meanwhile, 2NE1 will kick off their “All or Nothing” World Tour in Seoul on March 1 and 2.
