These tragic events have sparked concerns over the deepening problem of celebrity suicides in Korea—and its adverse effect on the country’s alarming suicide rate, which has ranked among the world’s highest in recent years.

Around 1:30AM of May 31st, Big Bang’s Daesung was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The popular singer crashed into a taxi cab, whose driver stopped the car to help an already passed-out motorcyclist, at Yanghwa Bridge.

The letters pronounce the same word for “Space God” or “Universe God.” This character was put in a message that Kim Hyun Joong himself wrote.
