What you’ll probably do is head to the nearest Missha, Face Shop, or Etude House chain store and allow a sales assistant to help you select some items suitable for you. In this series, I’ll cover the major beauty shops: their concepts, bestsellers, and of course, which celebrities endorse them. For this edition, I’ll discuss Korea’s first nature-conscious cosmetics brand, Innisfree, which is currently fronted by SNSD’s YoonA.

Yoon So Yi Transforms Into "Portrait of a Beauty"
Yoon So Yi, who currently stars in the SBS drama "Warrior Baek Dong Soo," will appear in the September issue of W magazine with a reinterpretation of the 2008 historical movie, "Mi In Do" ("Portrait of a Beauty"). The movie is about a talented Joseon-era woman who must take over her brother’s identity as a painter after he commits suicide. This liberal twist on an old story suited the concept of the pictorial, which was meant to be a modern take on old-style beauty. To achieve this amalgamation, the stylists mixed modern and traditional hanbok and makeup. The result was a gorgeous fusion of modern and traditional beauty.

The British fashion designer Neil Barrett recently launched his line at Shinsegae department stores. The launch party was held on August 25 at Shinsegae in Seoul. Several stars attended the event, including Go Soo, Song Joong Ki, Cha Seung Won, Han Ga In, and Chun Jung Myung. As befitting the designer’s monochromatic aesthetic, all of them dressed in a color scheme of black, white, and gray.

Kara Will Leave for France to Meet Their Perfume’s Manufacturer
Kara will leave for France in order to meet the manufacturers of their perfume with the same name. On August 25th their agency DSP media stated, “With Kara’s perfume that will be released in December hanging in the distance, Kara will leave for France on August 29th to meet the manufacturers. At France, Kara will be directly involved in the manufacturing and design process. Also, they will take part in a photo shoot where the photo album will be released both in Korea and Japan.”

The actress/singer Maybee has always an innocent image but through a recent Maxim photo shoot she has now shown her sexy side. A Maxim representative stated, “For the first time since her debut Maybee has tried out a sexy photo shoot, her innocent and mysterious image meshed in well with the sexy concept of the photo shoot. The photo shoot went on for nearly 6 hours but she never lost her smile, and she perfectly assimilated the clothes that she was wearing.”

Cosmopolitan has released a pictorial featuring Kwon Sang Woo in a special spread for the magazine’s biannual edition for males, Cosmopolitan Man. Kwon, who stars in the upcoming movie "Pain," displayed a sophisticated urban style in these photos, clothed in stylish suits. Gong Yoo and Lee Min Jung were the models for the fall collection of the clothing brand Mind Bridge. The season’s concept is "Acoustic Touch from Glasgow," which means… well, we’re not sure what it means, but apparently the inspiration of the clothing was the "acoustic scenery" of one of the cultural and artistic hubs of the UK, Glasgow, as depicted by the illustrations of the artist Yoo Young Joo. The collection featured trench coats, pea coats, and other outerwear in cozy fall shades of khaki, olive, and tan.

Many celebrities turned out to check out the Marc Jacobs 2011 F/W season collection. The runway show was held on August 24 at Hyatt Hotel Hannam in Seoul. Some of the big names attending the event included G-Dragon (of course, always on top of fashion), SNSD’s YoonA and Sooyoung, Song Yoon Ah, Go Joon Hee, Han Hye Jin, Song Kyung Ah, Jang Yoon Joo, Sung Yuri, Han Hyun Joo, and Cha Ye Ryun. According to Chocolat’s agency Paramount Music on August 23rd, Chocolat’s Tia was chosen as the model for the makeup brand Lioele. This news is gaining attention because it has only been six days since Chocolat had officially debuted. (Of course, Tia already had a couple photo shoot with Ji Hyun Woo) The agency stated, “Tia who has a foreign doll-like look has been chosen as a makeup brand model and this is an exceptional case. Despite the fact that they are still rookies, they are receiving so much attention and good treatment that netizens, representatives of K-Pop, and representatives of advertisements are all shocked.”
