K-Pop in Japanese Music Market Shows Steady Growth In Revenue

On February 16, Oricon released a revenue trends report regarding K-Pop artists’ music softwares and their sales. According to this report, the total revenue of Japanese music market has been steadily decreasing in past five years, but K-Pop artists’ Japanese music software sales has skyrocketed, reaching 24.4 Billion Yen in revenue.

Solo artist Jay Park has made his comeback through the release of his first official album, "New Breed." On February 8, despite the cold weather, Jay Park openly revealed his excitement for his comeback, smiling throughout the whole interview. His new album, "New Breed" contains songs of various genres, including electronic hip-hop and R&B. Many well-known musicians, both Korean and foreign, participated in the production of the album, including Rob Knox, the famous producer who’s worked with artists like Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and Britney Spears.

2PM "Hands Up Asia Tour Concert" Sells Out in Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Nanjing

2PM’s “Hands Up Asia Tour Concert” has sold out in Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Nanjing. Last year in September 2011, 2PM also sold out for its tour that went on through Seoul, Taiwan, Jakarta, and Singapore. The first part of the tour will begin on February 18 in Bangkok, February 25 in Nanjing, and March 10 in Hong Kong. The company in charge of the tour CJ E&M Live stated, “Currently the hardest market for Hallyu is China where concert culture isn’t developed as much and Hong Kong where it is already established. There haven’t been many K-Pop tours that have a record of being sold out. The ‘Hands Up Asia Tour Concert’ is a synergy between 2PM and M-Live.
