The commercial premired on the Japanese morning talk show "Mezamashi TV." During the shooting, the members had to tackle a difficult scene. In that scene, the members step aside as an elevated camera…and cameraman, pass between them.

Who Is Behind the Japanese "Anti-Kim Tae Hee" Movement?

On March 7, the SBS show “That I Want to Know” sought out the source behind the cancellation of Kim Tae Hee’s CF event. (Press Conference) As we reported earlier, Kim Tae Hee’s CF event was cancelled. According to the Japanese sports newspaper “Sponichi,” the event was cancelled because of hateful comments on internet community boards. The negative comments had issue with using Kim Tae Hee as a model.

Koike Koh, the CEO of Japan’s Oricon, made an important comment regarding the influx of Korean artists into Japan. He stated, "The metabolism of Korean artists and music seems too fast for Japanese market. Japanese fans might get tired of them since way too many of them are rushing to enter the market. This might negatively effect Hallyu, the Korean wave."

Japanese Netizens: Anti-Hallyu or Not?

I came across an article on a Korean news site that talked about how anti-Hallyu sentiments in Japan are affecting Korean stars like Kim Tae Hee and Girls’ Generation. The writer started out by writing about how Kim Tae Hee was the victim of anti-Hallyu Japanese Internet users. These users protested her recent appearance in a Japanese cosmetics commercial and their complaints cancelled the press conference for the commercial. The anti-Hallyu Japanese netizens also sprang up when Kim Tae Hee was set to star in her Fuji TV drama, "Boku to Star no 99nichi." The reason behind the protests was a statement Kim Tae Hee made in 2005, proclaiming Dokdo as a part of Korea.
