T-ara’s Jiyeon Takes a Break from Activities

T-ara’s Jiyeon will take a break from group activities until her knee injury has fully healed. Last August 25th, Jiyeon injured her right knee during dance practice. She is ready to take a break for her injury to recover but prior to that, she joined in the pre-recording of the group’s last performance of “Roly Poly” for Inkigayo on August 28th.

SNSD’s Soo Young Injured in Car Accident, Suspends All Activities

SNSD’s Sooyoung was involved in a car accident Sunday morning, injuring her backbone area, which will temporarily suspend all of her activities, local media reported today. According to local media, Sooyoung was on her way to the city of Chun An around 9AM on August 28th when the car on the opposite lane crashed into her vehicle. Sooyoung was heading to a charity event for blind people, and the accident was caused by the opposite driver’s careless driving, it was reported.

BEAST Engages in Lawsuit to Get Rid of Harmful Media Status

BEAST’s agency Cube Entertainment has filed a lawsuit in order to get rid of the “harmful media” status for BEAST’s songs. Recently SM had a similar lawsuit and in court, it was decided that having the word “alcohol” in the lyrics of a song does not make that song “harmful media.” Cube Entertainment is following suite in order to get rid of that status for BEAST’s first album.

Lee Seung Gi to Turn Into “Bad Boy” for New Album?

For his fifth album later this year, Lee Seung Gi is said to be planning for a complete image make-over, taking on the “bad boy” concept over his original “clean-cut” image. According to industry officials, Lee Seung Gi is busy recording his new album now. A total of 9 to 10 tracks are planned for the album, and he’s done with about five songs so far. One of the songs he’s considering for the title track is called, “I’m a Bad Boy (or Bad Boy).” Produced by “Honeydew’O,” a production team comprised of Jeong Yeop of the Brown Eyed Soul and Echo Bridge, the song is expected to turn Lee Seung Gi into a completely different singer from his earlier “clean-cut” image.

[Opinion] Why K-Pop Is More than Just a Genre

Let’s break this down simply, K-Pop = Korean pop. Pop music is a genre; therefore K-Pop can be called a genre of music. Despite this, I have seen the term used many times to describe much more than just the music and this got me thinking, is K-Pop more than just a genre?
