Stars Attend VIP Premiere of Yoo Ah In’s New Movie "Punch"
On the evening of September 27, the VIP premiere of the new movie "Punch" (a.k.a. Wandeugi) was held in Seoul. "Punch" is based on a novel by Kim Ryeo Ryeong, which is about a unique and kind teacher, Dong Joo (played by Kim Yoon Suk) who mentors a rough but deep, rebellious teenager Wan Deuk (played by Yoo Ah In). Some of the top stars who attended the premiere include: Cha Seung Won, Jung Il Woo, Lee Jung Jae, Nam Gyu Ri, Lee Da Hee, Go Joon Hee, Song Kang Ho, Hwang Bora, Seo Woo and Soy. “The Crucible” starring Gong Yoo and Jung Yumi opened September 22, already drawing in nearly one million viewers in just four days. The film is an adaption of a novel by bestselling author Gong Ji Young, which was based on a true story about a rape at a school for the deaf.
Tickets of BIFF Opening Film “Only You” Sell Out in 7 Seconds
Tickets for the opening film of the 16th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), “Only You,” starring So Ji Sub and Han Hyo Joo, sold out soon after sales opened on Sept 26 at 5 PM. Tickets for the screening in the BIFF (outdoor) Theater were sold out in 7 seconds, while tickets for the screening in Theater 1 at the CineMountain were sold out in 20 seconds. The opening film for last year, “Under the Hawthorn Tree” by Director Zhang Yimou, had sold out all 2000 tickets in 18 seconds.

Girl’s Day’s sweet lead vocalist Minah has been cast for a ballet-themed movie titled "Holly and Wannie" as the leading role! Directed by Cho Hyun Kyung and produced by Friday Entertainment, the movie is about an American soldier meeting a showgirl named Holly, who works at a showgirl near his station. Holly has a 15 year old daugher that dreams of becoming a ballerina named Wannie (played by Minah).
Jang Dong Gun to Star in "Dangerous Liaisons" with Cecelia Cheung and Zhang Ziyi
Actor Jang Dong Gun will be collaborating with China’s top beauties, Cecelia Cheung and Zhang Ziyi. They have been casted for director Heo Jin Ho’s melodrama movie, "Dangerous Liaisons," and will begin filming in China at the end of this month. Director Heo’s past movies include, "One Fine Spring Day," "Happiness," and "A Good Rain Knows."
Kim Ki Duk’s "Arirang" to Open at Tokyo Filmex
Cannes Film Festival Un Certain Regard category winner “Arirang” by Kim Ki Duk opens on November 12 at the Tokyo Filmex in November. “Arirang” will not be in the competition but three other Korean films are among a selection of the 10 in competition.
"Mr. Idol" Releases Theatrical Trailer
A new, longer trailer of the K-Pop-themed movie “Mr. Idol” is just out, building up from the glimpse of fictional idol group Mr. Children that was released in mid-August. The new trailer introduces with more detail the other players in “Mr. Idol,” namely Kim Soo Ro as entertainment mogul and Star Music agency CEO Sa Hae Moon and Park Ye Jin as former music producer Oh Gu Ju.
