Park Shin Hye Cheers FT Island On
Park visited Lee Hong Ki and his band FT Island backstage on the second night of their “Play! FT Island!” concert held in Seoul on August 21st. She had previously promised to Lee that she will watch FT Island performing, to thank him for his gesture of friendship.
G-Dragon Visits Park Seung Il With Sean
Big Bang’s G-Dragon went to visit Park Seung Il who is currently fighting Lou Gehrig’s disease with Sean of Jinusean. Sean continued to support Park Seung Il after he read the book that Park Seung Il wrote, “Writing Hope With Eyes.” Also, Sean has been pursuing activities in order to help build a sanitarium for patients with Lou Gehrig’s disease. Sean wrote through his twitter on August 22nd, “G-Dragon became the present. G-Dragon went to Park Seung Il the day after Park Seung Il’s birthday. Park Seung Il told me that it was such a good gift, G-Dragon promised that next time he came, he would bring good gifts.”
Japanese Anti-Hallyu Protests Continue
MBC’s “Current Events Magazine 2580” had a press release about the anti-hallyu (Anti-Korean Wave) protests that appear to be increasing. On the episode that featured the anti-hallyu protests that was broadcast on August 21st, K-Pop’s popularity and also its anti-movement were shown. The episode showed many protestors saying extremely critical things about Korean celebrities. One protestor was shown with a microphone saying, “Don’t force anti-hallyu on us Fuji TV, I don’t want to watch Korean dramas.” Other protestors were shown screaming “Hurrah to the Japanese Emperor,” also people were saying “Amongst the people passing by we can even see the face of some Josen-jin.” (Josen-jin is a derogatory word that the Japanese use to describe Koreans.)
Heechul Visits Ryeowook’s Musical "Temptation of Wolves"
Super Junior’s Heechul went to see fellow member Ryeowook’s musical, “Temptation of Wolves.” On August 18th Heechul wrote on his twitter, “With Henry and Zhou Mi, I went to go see ‘Temptation of Wolves.’ A new side of Ryeowook! I kept thinking of the Ryeowook as a good looking serial killer.” Heechul shared the picture with all of them together.

Han Ye Seul’s effort to shed light on the poor working conditions of the Korean TV drama industry last week by going completely AWOL and boycotting further production of KBS drama “Myung Wol the Spy” (in which she lead acts for) was largely met with negative criticism a day after her return to Korea (she left for LA only to return within 48 hours of departure). She was blasted for her selfish act, which stalled all progress of the show, and was questioned what “poor working environments” really meant when it turns out her fee per episode is nearly 30 million won (apprx. $30,000 USD).
