Ex-H.O.T Member Tony An Makes Idol Comeback with Smash

Tony An, the former H.O.T member who opened up an entire slew of boy bands to follow, is returning to his roots as an idol group member. On February 23, Star News reported that Tony An will join Smash as one of their members starting from their new album due out in March. He will promote with the group as well, making Smash a six-member group now. Tony An is also the main producer of the album.

Songwriter Jenny Hyun who sparked controversy after posting a series of deragatory comments calling for the eradication of African-Americans, issued an apology on her blog. On February 19, the previous apology entry titled "Official Apology to The Black Community" was removed and replaced by a message which was presumably written by her family.

Secret to Focus on Japanese Activities First Half of 2012

Secret will now focus on their Japanese activities. Last year in 2011, Secret debuted in Japan with their song “Madonna.” They also made “Shy Boy” a hit as well. So how will they go about their Japanese activities this time around? First their 3rd single “So Much for Goodbye” on February 29. This Japanese album will also include the songs “Love Is Long” and “Color of Love.”

2AM Opens Teaser Website

We reported earlier that 2AM would be making a comeback in South Korea with a showcase on March 13 to release their new album. However, it looks that the date is changed to March 12. Big Hit Entertainment stated, “2AM will come back on March 12 with their second mini album after 1 and a half years.”

Winners Announced for “1st Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards”

On February 22, the first-ever “Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards” was held in Seoul for over three hours. A total of 14 artists were given the “Artist of the Year” award, which was broken down by each quarter and month of the past year. There were a lot more artists awarded across 15 different categories.
