Next month actor Hyun Bin will receive his second vacation since enlisting in the Korean Marines last April. According to an official from the Marines today, Hyun Bin will be granted a customary five-day vacation to mark the 100th day of his service in early July.

British magazine The Economist has compared Hyun Bin to the legendary singer Elvis Presley in a recent article titled “Hallyu Elvis and the draft-dodger.” The article discussed how all Korean males are required to serve 21 months in the military, and the sensitivity of some male celebrities or sons of prominent business/political figures finding ways to dodge the mandatory service– but Hyun Bin as a prime example of proudly serving the military.
