K-Pop continued to make strides on a global scale last week as 2NE1 had their first performance in the U.S., while Cube Entertainment artists held the very first K-Pop concert on Latin American soil. SNSD announced details for their first U.S. single, and YouTube launched a K-Pop-only channel, which is the first page dedicated to the music industry of a certain country.

2NE1 and Jeremy Scott Interviewed by MTV Style

On December 13, 2NE1 sat down with MTV Style after their first U.S. performance in New York. The group touched upon a number of different subjects from New York’s fashion to where they get their inspiration from for their own style. They also talked about fashion designer Jeremy Scott, who’s known to be good friends with the girls, and even gave close up shots of their own nail designs.

2NE1’s "I Am the Best" Named in "25 Best Singles of 2011" by Slant Magazine

Online film/music publication Slant Magazine has named 2NE1’s “I Am the Best” in its year-end “25 Best Singles of 2011” music review. The track, which the magazine calls “a jaw-dropping, vibrant triumph of pure swagger and verve,” is at number 21, and appears on the list alongside music from global superstars Kanye West, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Beyonce.

2NE1’s CL Featured in Exclusive Interview with BBC News

On December 16, 2NE1’s CL was interviewed by BBC News, reflecting once again the massive amount of attention the group has been receiving lately. The group’s leader appeared in an exclusive interview with BBC’s Singapore-based reporter and talked about the group’s success and the significance of winning the recent MTV Iggy “Best New Band of the Year” award.
