SKKS Quartet Update: Song Joong Ki and Yoo Ah In Hit The Big Screen

In 2010, KBS’ hit drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” (SKKS) caused a “SungS” mania across the nation, especially with the four leads Park Min Young, Park Yoo Chun, Yoo Ah In and Song Joong Ki, collectively known as the “Jalgeum Quartet” (“group of four irresistible men”) in the drama. One year on, they have starred in various premium dramas, released an album, found a boyfriend, and possibly hid a girlfriend (!) Right now, we’ll take a look at Yoo Ah In and Song Joong Ki, who are taking on the big screen with two movies of very different genres.

Stars Walk the Red Carpet at Busan International Film Festival

The opening ceremony for the 16th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) was held on October 6 at the Heaven Theater in the Movie Hall. Actresses Uhm Ji Won and Ye Ji Won emceed the ceremony, marking the first time that two females hosted the event. SISTAR’s Hyorin’s Potential WGM Partner: Boom or Yoo Ah In?

As we reported earlier in September, SISTAR’s Hyorin had appeared on MBC Every1’s “Idol Weekly” on September 10, stating that she would like to appear on “We Got Married” with actor Yoo Ah In. On September 28, SISTAR’s agency Starship Entertainment stated, “It is true that Hyorin is now a viable candidate for ‘We Got Married’ but nothing has been confirmed about her appearing on the show.” “Of course the agency and Hyorin want the ‘We Got Married’ appearance, we held a meeting recently with the production team, but nothing has been decided so we are being careful.

Stars Attend VIP Premiere of Yoo Ah In’s New Movie "Punch"

On the evening of September 27, the VIP premiere of the new movie "Punch" (a.k.a. Wandeugi) was held in Seoul. "Punch" is based on a novel by Kim Ryeo Ryeong, which is about a unique and kind teacher, Dong Joo (played by Kim Yoon Suk) who mentors a rough but deep, rebellious teenager Wan Deuk (played by Yoo Ah In). Some of the top stars who attended the premiere include: Cha Seung Won, Jung Il Woo, Lee Jung Jae, Nam Gyu Ri, Lee Da Hee, Go Joon Hee, Song Kang Ho, Hwang Bora, Seo Woo and Soy. Yoo Ah In: "The reason I dropped out of high school was due to stress"

At a press conference held on September 6, actor Yoo Ah In revealed that through his upcoming movie ‘Wan Deuk Yi’ he was able to experience the high school life he had missed out on. In the movie, Yoo Ah In plays Do Wan Deuk, a high school student who grows up in a tough environment and becomes a problematic child. When comparing the lives of the character he plays and his actual life, Yoo Ah In said, “Although Wan Deuk had a great teacher like Dong Joo, in my real life I was suspicious of teachers and even came to drop out of school.”

QTV to Air "Sungkyunkwan Scandal : The Movie"

Celebrating the first anniversary of the popular drama "Sungkyunkwan Scandal", cable channel QTV will be airing "Sungkyunkwan Scandal : The Movie" on Sept 10 night at 12:00 AM. The two-hour movie is a re-construction of the 20 episodes of the popular drama and will also feature recent interviews with the four main leads – Park Yoo Chun (as Lee Seon Joon), Park Min Young (as Kim Yoon Hee), Yoo Ah In (as Moon Jae Shin) and Soong Joong Ki (as Gu Yong Ha), also known in the drama as the "Jalgeum Quartet" ("outstanding and talented quartet"). There will also be NG cuts of Park Yoo Chun that have never been revealed before.

SISTAR’s Hyorin Wants to Appear on MBC "We Got Married" with Yoo Ah In

Sistar recently appeared on MBC Every1’s "Idol Weekly" that will air on September 10. During the show they
revealed all the facts regarding their weight, idea type, plastic surgery, and personal strengths. The show’s MC’s, Jung Hyung Don and Defconn, were surprised by SiSTAR’s honesty that’s usually not present in most girl groups nowadays. The MC’s didn’t even have to request SiSTAR for specific answers to avoid ambiguity due to the fact that they were always straight to the point instead of going off tangent.

Celeb Style File: Yoo Ah In

We first noticed Yoo Ah In when he starred in the historical rom-com drama "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" as the rebellious long-term student Moon Jae Shin, a role not too far removed from his bad-boy image in real life. (Note: He will also play a rebellious student in "Wandeugi.") This is no clean-cut guy; he even keeps the same facial stubble as in the drama. And check out his clothes. Yoo Ah In is a great dresser, but not in any commonly accepted mode. Gold shoes? Why not? Cropped jeans? Sure!
